Save the Date for the 2025 Winter Conference: Feb 10-12
Honoring Linda Argote with the warm sun of Los Angeles
Thanks to the heroic efforts of Ian Larkin and the support of Olav Sorenson’s Price Center for Entrepreneurship & Innovation, we will hold the 2025 Organization Science Winter Conference at UCLA’s Luskin Center on February 10 - 12, 2025. This facility is typically booked two years in advance, so this was an amazing accomplishment by our team on the ground. It’s a beautiful facility in a city with great flight accessibility, and we’re working to keep participant costs down as much as possible. So far, my busking fundraising campaign has raised ten cents (from my son), but I’m told (by my son) that my falsetto is getting less and less squeaky every day.
This year, we’ll honor Linda Argote, one of the founders of the OSWC and Org Science’s editor-in-chief from 2004 to 2010. Linda is a giant in the field and played a crucial role in advancing both knowledge and our field’s institutions. Her papers on organizational learning were heavily influential for me as a junior scholar, and I was fortunate to spend 2005-2007 as a visitor at Carnegie Mellon. One thing I learned from Linda’s work is how to communicate across fields and disciplines, studying the same organizational challenges. Her work is a great inspiration for what we are trying to do as a journal, so I hope you’ll join me in honoring her then, either from near or far.
I’ll be back with details in about a week, including the formal committee, call, and rough schedule. We’ll also be holding another doctoral consortium on the first morning. For those of you flying from Europe, we hope that the nonstop flight opportunities can make up for the distance. We’ll be back in Europe in 2026, but we hope to continue to have an international population represented each year.
